NLP in Los Angeles
Neurolinguistic Programing – has been around for nearly forty years. I first started using it in my hypnotherapy-hypnosis practice in Los Angeles years ago. It has changed since then. It evolved from the work of some of the most outstanding and brilliant innovators in psychology, personal change, hypnosis, cybernetics, and linguistics – though its scope goes beyond all of those fields.
I have used NLP in my West Los Angeles Hypnosis practice since the beginning. NLP is best understood as a meta discipline, rather than simply as another transformational modality, because it can be applied usefully to almost any other discipline. Not only will that discipline be enhanced, but NLP will expand to the degree that the discipline in question illuminate it. Like any creative discipline, NLP has become simpler over time, and more accessible, and more applicable as a practical tool to effect personal change. New research and developments in brain science simply confirms what was already known through the practice of NLP, and affirmed through several decades of revolutionizing how personal change is practiced, not only in the therapy office, but on the sports field, in sales, in the classroom, and in the arts.
NLP is above all a mindset. It presupposes that anything that you can imagine for yourself is possible; or at the very least, by imagining it to be so, you can stretch beyond previously imagined limitations. Then it sets about helping you learn how you can turn what you imagine into a reality.
Neuro means how we process information through our neurology, the five external senses and our thinking.
Linguistic is how we communicate and process information and meanings through language and internal representation.
Programming is like a play-list or a computer program. When you know how you can change it, it’s easy to do so, in countless ways, any time you want.
Too good to be true?
Think of NLP as a meta-discipline, infinitely adaptable, to enhances other disciplines and practices – like the practice of living, playing the violin, running an organization, communicating with clients, family, or friends.
Nor is it so much about techniques – though there are an abundance of techniques that are truly astonishing in their effectiveness, techniques that can bring about profound lasting change.
A simple example: there was a time when it was considered that it had to take weeks, if not months, to cure a phobia or certain kinds of addictions. Now such things can be accomplished in a matter of minutes. Does that sound unbelievable? NLP has been tried and tested for forty-years. And you might say, that in other forms it’s been for as long as minds have been curious.
It is an exploration of the change that lies at the heart of change, and of the ‘difference that makes a difference’.
And if phobias and addictions can be transformed in a few minutes, what can be done with negative patterns of thought and emotion – which may be little more than internal addictions anyway?
Some people consider these tools to be the closest thing we have to magic!
In the context of life-coaching there are many ways for that magic to be applied – to change limiting beliefs, to transform emotions, to eradicate self-destructive habits, to develop self-confidence and internally stimulated motivation, and perhaps especially to shed light on and eliminate incongruities and conflicts in values.
The list goes on. Does this seem too good to be true? Contact me for more information.
